Our genetic code has not yet been fully mapped, and researchers are discovering new polymorphisms every day that are associated with obesity, high BMI, increased adipose tissue, uncontrollable appetite or complete lack of satiety.
However, with the collaboration of molecular biologists, geneticists and nutritionists who specialize in molecular nutrition, having a patient’s genetic sample (eg saliva), can be detected polymorphisms associated with known obesity or disease genes and with proper nutrition (based on genetic profile of the patient) specific foods may or may not have a greater effect on the body, helping to treat and cure diseases.
Although it is well known in the scientific community that only 45% of our genes are determined and the remaining 55% is based on epigenetic modifications:
- sleep
- diet
- exercise
- alcohol
- smoking
- anxiety / stress
- noise pollution
- vaccines
- access to clean water, etc.
with this knowledge we can make a “bad gene” inactive or slow down its appearance and respectively a “good gene” to extend its possibilities or its protective action.
